Barefoot Blonde's Story

Barefoot Blonde Collection represents a love of carefree exploration, relaxation and travel.

Mel and Nat, creative directors and best friends for over 20 years met in their first job working on the drive through at Hungry Jacks. Besties from the start, their lust for life, hardworking nature and love for fashion kept them connected over the years.

Both spent their early twenties exploring the world. Mel, an entrepreneur at heart, has run several thriving businesses creating an enviable lifestyle.
Barefoot Blondes
Nat studied film & TV, working in the field in London before taking a more corporate structure back in Oz. Whilst their careers took very different paths, they studied fashion together several years ago and finally turned their dream into a reality.

Barefoot Blonde Collection design their pieces in Australia and ethically produce their designs in Bali, Indonesia. Quantities are provided in small batches and replenished if in demand meaning minimal impact the environment.

Their bohemian designs are made from quality materials and created as easy to wear pieces for weekend wandering, holiday dreaming and festival frolicking.

Ethics + Sustainability

Designed in house on the Sunny Gold Coast, inspired by the easy living coastal bliss. They create pieces that they want to wear and are versatile so can be worn to the beach, on bike rides or to that special occasion. Now, more than ever they are designed to be worn on repeat, season after season.

Production is done in Bali, Indonesia. Barefoot Blonde collaborates with family owned and run factories that thrive on love and share our sustainability and ethical values. Being such a critical part of their business they partner with a team who follow best ethical practices such as paying a living wage, holiday pay, insurance and maternity leave.

Barefoot Blonde is a small business which means they can make decisions to improve them and mother earth quickly to move towards a more sustainable future. They are continuously trying to educate themselves on sustainable options in the market. They also use biodegradable, and compostable garment bags and chose against featuring their logo on the bag which means less waste in the waterways. The are finding recently the decisions they are making are better for the environment, but have less of a brand presence, but that is ok with them.  Also opting for spare buttons to be sewn into care labels which resulted in less packaging. They work to always make sure these little decisions count.

Barefoot Blonde is constantly working with their manufacturers to improve their fabric and coloring process, packaging and produce small quantities and replenish them only if they are in demand. They keep all our extra fabric and use for things like scrunchies or store it away ready to be reused for repurposing.
